Would your child Benefit from OT?

Although every child develops at their own pace, the signs below may indicate that your child could benefit from Occupational Therapy services.

  • Difficulty sustaining attention during play or structured activities

  • Difficulty planning or following multi-step routines or directions

  • Becomes easily frustrated with new or challenging tasks

  • Strong reactions to everyday sensations (bathing, toothbrushing, clothing textures, or unexpected noises)

  • Difficulty sitting still or frequent fidgeting

  • Frequently touching objects or people, chewing on clothing/pencils, or seeking movement

  • Avoids touch, messy play, or swings/climbing equipment

  • Reduced body awareness (may bump into others or appear clumsy)

  • Difficulty calming after becoming upset

  • Rigid thinking, difficulty with transitions, or resistance to change

  • Limited food variety or strong texture-based food preferences

  • Challenges engaging with peers or sustaining cooperative play

  • Delay in age-appropriate motor milestones (sitting, crawling, rolling, standing)

  • Poor balance, posture, or coordination

  • Difficulty manipulating small items or holding objects using thumb and index finger

  • Difficulty catching, throwing, or coordinating whole body movements

  • Challenges with dressing tasks such as buttoning or zipping

  • Difficulty with pencil grasp, handwriting, or hand endurance

  • Difficulty visually tracking or scanning during reading or play

  • Difficulty copying from the board 

  • Difficulty with letter formation or organizing written work
